Welcome
to our Historic City
As
Mayor of Chickamauga Georgia, I am honored
and proud to welcome you on a virtual
tour of our friendly town nestled in
the Appalachian foothills in the Northwestern
corner of Georgia. Our hope is that
you will include a visit to Chickamauga
whenever you are in the area. We believe
you will see firsthand why so many call
it the "Mayberry" of Georgia,
a feeling we strive to maintain and
actually encourage. Our City School
System is one of the few remaining city
systems in the state and is consistently
ranked as one of the top systems in
the State of Georgia. The City is a
distributor for TVA electricity and
is able to maintain one of the lowest
kilowatt/hour price in the southeast.
We are working hard to make Chickamauga
a great place to visit as well as to
live, and as you view these web pages,
try to imagine the rich and turbulent
history of the town, from the original
Cherokee Indian settlements in the late
1700’s to the two-day Battle of
Chickamauga in September 1863 during
the War Between the States, to present
day. We have worked hard to restore
and display historical areas around
our city for your touring pleasure.
Our merchants are ready to greet you
with a big hello and a smile and if
you need any assistance the City hall
is open 8 am to 4pm weekdays (except
holidays of course). Come visit and
stay for a while.
